Ride Hard

A Group: Cybelé experienced riders, guests/teams who prefer to adopt their own riding style. While traffic and group riding safety should be adhered to, riders in this pack will very much be responsible for their own actions. Riders should try to take turns at the front to pull the pack. Hard workouts expected. Expect constant rolling of >35kmh
B Group: Cybelé controlled pack riding. Constant rolling 28-33+ km/h. Stronger riders lead the pack. Mostly 2-abreast. Relatively hard workouts expected.
C Group: Cybelé controlled pack riding. Constant rolling 23-28+km/h. Ride leaders maintain a controlled pace throughout. Mostly 2-abreast. Suited for newbies, less experienced road rider, and those who want an easy pace ride. Pack roll out sequence in 30-60 secs intervals as follows:
1) A Group - >35km/h
2) B Group - 28-33km/h
3) C Group - 23-28km/h
Please note that these are estimated pace guidelines, but depending on the pack capability, most of the pack leads may maintain at the max limits. If you can't keep up, drop back to the following pack, or if you have enough riders, form your own pack and roll.

Etiquitte

Ridership for the regular Saturday rides have been constantly in the 15+/- pax numbers. These consists of Cybelé members, as well family/friends/guests/other cycling groups and teams who are not in Cybelé and have no visibility to any postings/updates in the Facebook page.

Most of the guest riders attend the ride regularly, and if I may assume, the fact that they are still coming, they must enjoy the Sat ride and training platforms. Given the numbers, for safety and to have a positive experience in the rides, basic Traffic Regulations and group riding discipline & etiquette need to be strictly adhered to. Remember, we are having training rides, NOT races.

Rules!

  • 1. Stop when traffic lights are red
  • 2. Look, see, "Clear", then go
  • 3. Ride in the left road lane
  • 4. Filter out and overtake when the entire pack can do so
  • 5. Stop behind vehicles at traffic lights
  • 6. Maintain your riding lane
  • 7. Communicate your intent
  • 8. Pass on/echo instructions
  • 9. Keep pedaling, no freewheeling
  • 10. Leave a bus-length gap within a big pack

Winmarleigh / Cockerham Time Trials
Saturday 2nd March 2019

Members of Cybelé Cycling Club took part in the Winmarleigh/Cockerham Cycling NLTTA Time Trials event on Saturday 2nd March. The first Time Trial event that members of the club have entered since its affiliation with the British Cycling Club in November 2019. A few of the members who took part have participated in these events before but for several of the group it was the first time and a little nerve-wracking. Once underway and pushed off from the starting point they then settled in and concentrated on completing the loop course as quickly as possible. Elements on the day proved to be a little testy with a strong headwind on the straight section along the A588 from Cockerham Village to Skatepool. Cheered along by fellow club members along the route who had turned up to provide encouragement. Two prizes were won by the Club as part of the 1st time entry category. Sammie Stuart was the fastest of all male or female first time TTing ! She was also 3rd fastest female in the event so takes that prize. The district has a one rider one prize rule (except team) to help distribute prizes out so fastest 1st TT female went to Sally Hart. A great afternoon and super results for all of us all to work on.
